ATLANTA -- Pelvic pain is common in adolescence and often is the result of musculoskeletal problems that respond well to physical therapy, Dr. Betsy L. Schroeder said at the annual meeting of the North American Society for Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology.

In a retrospective study of 63 patients with pelvic pain, musculoskeletal causes were found to be at least part of the etiology in 49 patients. Of 21 who underwent physical therapy, 20 had complete response, said Dr. Schroeder, director of the division of pediatric and adolescent gynecology at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh.
