The average high school sophomore may not realize that he has the power to influence revenue for his school district. But entrepreneurial administrators, savvy businesses and eager marketing companies are poised to tap the growing juvenile consumer market.
Their method of choice: advertising in schools.
Their prize: a piece of the $100 billion spent each year by teens in the United States.
In one fell swoop, school-based advertising pours money into tight school budgets, promotes the value of education and drops hints that students, teachers and parents should spend their money on the advertisers' products, supporters say.
