In a conversation at a friends birthday party two summers ago, the Mariners' fan explained with no small enthusiasm why voting for the new baseball stadium would benefit the community. She listened patiently.
``I agree that having the Mariners here is a good thing,'' she said in a serious tone. ``But I wish the same politicians and business leaders would give the same level of commitment to building a new library.''
