Though guitarist and composer Bill Frisell first made his name on the downtown New York improvisers scene, he chose players from the popular music world to play with him on his most recent CDs.
``Nashville,'' released in 1997, featured country and bluegrass players. The just-released ``Gone, Just Like a Train,'' finds Frisell in the company of bassist Viktor Krauss, who is classically trained and has been in bluegrass bands as well as Lyle Lovett's group, and the great rock drummer Jim Keltner, whose resume includes work with Eric Clapton, Bob Dylan and John Hiatt.
