Handing a big victory to opponents of a 20,000-seat concert amphitheater being built by the Muckleshoot Indian Tribe, a federal judge has ordered a sweeping analysis of the project's environmental problems.
U.S. District Judge John Coughenour's order requires federal agencies for the first time to consider all the effects the amphitheater might have on traffic, noise, water pollution, land use, public safety and fish and wildlife.
The 13-page order, received yesterday by attorneys involved in a lawsuit filed by a group opposed to the project, directs the U.S. Bureau of Indian Affairs to prepare an environmental impact statement. An EIS could take ...
