For now, she's still Baby Girl Doe.
But soon she'll move from the hospital to a temporary foster home. She'll have a name and, someday, a family. And she may never know about the dangers she faced as a newborn abandoned in the woods.
King County sheriff's deputies say they have no idea who gave birth to the girl on Sunday morning in a deserted, heavily wooded area near Angle Lake in SeaTac. They do know the unusually small 5-pound baby is lucky to be alive.
If the baby had remained alone for as little as half a day, she could have died from hypothermia and starvation, said Dr. David Woodrum, an expert on treating troubled newborns.
