``The magic numbers,'' Milton Berle confided, ``are 50-85-90. Get it?''
Sure, Uncle Miltie. We get it:
It was 50 years ago - June 8, 1948, to be exact - that Berle debuted on ``Texaco Star Theater,'' the show that catapulted network television into the big time and reportedly sold more TV sets than any ad campaign.
In 1913, when he was 5, Berle appeared in the first full-length movie comedy, ``Tillie's Punctured Romance,'' starring Marie Dressler and Charlie Chaplin. Thus, he can boast 85 years as a performer.
As for the number 90, he was born Milton Berlinger in New York City's Harlem on July 12, 1908.
