Sitting cross-legged on the floor of the student headquarters at Airlangga, the leading university here, Pandu Gunawan fairly oozed confidence as he spoke of how he and other students are trying to unseat President Suharto, Asia's longest-serving leader.

``We will continue the struggle, whatever the government does, even if that means we die,'' declared Gunawan, 22, a student movement leader here in Surabaya, Indonesia's largest city after the capital, Jakarta.
