There are relationships that could weather indiscretions and infidelities more easily than one more soiled towel discarded on the bathroom floor. Some people cannot leave their homes in the morning before the bed is made, cannot go to bed at night until the sink is free of dishes.
We are a society obsessed with cleaning.
Perhaps the fault lies neither in our stars nor in ourselves, but in John Wesley. It was Wesley, founder of Methodism, who first proclaimed, ``Cleanliness is next to godliness.'' That was more than 200 years ago, and we've been scrubbing and scouring, dusting and disinfecting ever since.
Certainly we know better than to believe ...
