At least 100 airplanes now in various stages of production at Boeing's Renton and Everett plants have suspect electrical connectors that must be replaced, and the time-consuming work has only just started, the company said yesterday.
It was an acknowledgment of the seriousness of its latest assembly-line problem.
Planes on the flight lines at both locations that are in pre-delivery testing have been grounded until they can be inspected and, if necessary, the suspect parts replaced.
So far, however, no planes have been delivered late to customers because of the parts problem, a Boeing spokeswoman said.
