Baseball fans hoping to avoid Ticketmaster's $3 service charge for 1999 Mariners tickets by purchasing them at the Kingdome box office will still run into a new $1 fee if they buy tickets there for any of the 41 games to be played in the new Safeco Field.
Because the Mariners are moving from the King County-owned Kingdome to their own new ballpark, the county is imposing that $1 box-office fee for every ticket sold for games at Safeco, which will open on July 15, halfway through next year's baseball season.
The fee went into effect Saturday, the first day of advance ticket sales for the 1999 season, and does not affect tickets for Kingdome games. In ...
