Every five years or so, the highly regarded Tallis Scholars, probably the finest exponent of Renaissance sacred vocal music in the world, swing by Seattle for a concert. They are inevitably sold-out or nearly sold-out.
Celebrating its 25th season, the English group gave two concerts at St. Mark's Cathedral, presented by the Early Music Guild, this weekend. The program sat at the heart of the ensemble's famous expertise. Almost the entire second half was devoted to its namesake, the 16th-century English composer Thomas Tallis with a contemporary William Mundy thrown in for extra spice.
