After adorning homes with lights and ornaments, Christmas trees can be recycled into valuable compost.
Seattle, Tacoma and King County will make it easier this year for residents to get rid of their trees and help the environment by producing mulch.
King County will operate 13 drop-off sites where people can leave Christmas trees, free of charge.
Seattle residents may dispose of their Christmas trees for free at either of the city's recycling and disposal stations beginning tomorrow and continuing until Jan. 10.
