There are numerous signs it's winter at Woodland Park Zoo: Trees are leafless, a chilly wind occasionally funnels through the paths connecting habitats, and animals have thick, silky fur coats.
But the most obvious sign of the season is that the cold-weather-loving animals in the Northern Trail habitats are frolicking, climbing and playing tag to entertain each other and visitors.
Some animals, especially the mountain goats and elk, come close to the barriers to stare at heavily bundled visitors.
