Mark Sanford, the University of Washington junior forward who has led the team in scoring and rebounding for two seasons, is skipping his senior year at the UW to enter the National Basketball Association draft.
Barring a change of heart, Sanford, in San Diego at his mother's home, will announce his decision to leave at a press conference, possibly early next week. He informed UW coaches Tuesday, and the Husky staff notified the players later as part of a team meeting.
``He felt the timing was right this year,'' said Bob Bender, the UW coach. Asked if he felt it was a good decision, Bender said, ``I support him 100 percent. With the conviction he feels, ...
