For six years, Keith Callow served on the state Supreme Court, including two years as chief justice.
Then, in 1992, he flew to the former Soviet republic of Estonia to help guide judges and lawyers there as the Baltic nation created a new legal system after the collapse of the Soviet Union months earlier.
Now, Callow is at it again. He leaves today for the former Soviet republic of Kyrgyzstan, a mountainous Central Asian region on China's northwest border that was once home to Genghis Khan and his Golden Horde.
``I hope to provide some guidance and counseling as they create a new legal system,'' Callow said.
