He just may be the key that unlocks the door to a very intriguing mystery: Who were the first humans to inhabit our continent and whence did they come?
He can't help us right now because he is in jail, wrongfully incarcerated by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
He is ``Kennewick Man,'' so-named because he was found along the banks of the Columbia River. He is only bones but his bones are radio-carbon-dated to be 9,300 years old - perhaps as much as 9,600 years old. That makes him one of only seven skeletal remains of that age found in North America. Even more astonishing, it is just possible Kennewick Man arrived here from Europe!
