They are described as squid, calamari or as ``those little buggers with all the arms.'' You can fry them in oil, saute them in spaghetti sauce or stuff and bake them in the oven. But the first time a waitress plunked a saucer-size slab of squid in front of me, I was pretty sure she had delivered to the wrong address.
My confusion was understandable. I've observed squid fishermen jigging off piers in Seattle, Edmonds and Kingston.. But I've never seen or heard of a squid jigger being pulled head-first off the dock.Giant squid only existed in Jules Verne adventures or in old Dorothy Lamour flicks. Or at least that was my conviction until that waitress ...
