The prospect of five of the nine City Council positions being up for grabs brought to the Sept. 16 primary election campaign a very mixed lineup of candidates.
Seattle voters can choose from more than the usual quota of perennial, single-issue, uninformed, unskilled and downright oddball candidates. But alongside some able veterans, the primary contest also has generated a promising spate of newcomers, including some young people to inject some much-needed new blood into the Seattle body politic.
While the candidates run for specified positions on the City Council, members are elected at large, with voters casting ballots in all races.
