The breathtaking fall colors of New Mexico's mountains, muted last year because of severe drought, should be back in all their majesty this year, thanks to generous winter snowfall and abundant spring and summer rain.
Among the best places to enjoy fall color is the town of Red River, which will be hosting its 19th annual Aspencade Arts and Crafts Fair this weekend.
The fair is timed to take advantage of the golden aspens that light the autumn mountains above this village, nestled 8,750 feet high in the Carson National Forest.
