Iff David Duchovny is really serious about parlaying his ``X-Files'' TV prominence into movie stardom, he's going to have to pick better material than ``Playing God.''
The film starts with an intriguing premise, but it quickly collapses into what seems destined to be the year's most shoddily made and thoroughly unpleasant neo-film noir.
Duchovny plays the former Dr. Eugene Sands, a drug-addicted L.A. surgeon who has lost his medical license - and his reason for living - after killing a patient while operating under the influence of amphetamines.
