The mall that woke up Danbury
Not often does one event or monument completely change the character of an entire region, but the Danbury Fair, the largest mall in New England, appears to have done just that. Not only have shopping opportunities increased a thousandfold in the former "Hat Capital of the World," but the year-old mall also has altered the way residents and outsiders think about the city of Danbury and surrounding towns in Fairfield County.
