Elizabeth Taylor tried so hard to make her eighth marriage work, she even cooked.
Friends say the main reason her marriage to Larry Fortensky didn't work was that he is quiet and shy, and preferred simplicity to all the trappings and staff of Taylor's busy life, People magazine reports.
``I know Elizabeth cut back on the help and people coming over,'' a friend, songwriter Carol Bayer Sager, tells People in its March 4 issue. ``She even sometimes put on an apron and went into the kitchen to cook him dinner.''
Taylor said practice doesn't make divorce easy.
