With spring in the air, the annual multimedia encyclopedia wars are in full swing as software vendors vie for primacy in a lucrative market that now includes the Internet as a competing source of reference information. There are some new entries in the CD-ROM encyclopedia competition, and some impressive updates of old entries.
Microsoft, aggressive as always, has enlarged the content of its popular Encarta, and the 1996 edition has everything earlier editions had and more.
