The head of Hong Kong's largest political party said he is disappointed President Clinton didn't meet with him in Washington, D.C., earlier this month and predicted the snub will be viewed here as a lack of the administration's support for democracy in the British colony before it reverts to China next year.
``He is prepared to see an appointed governor who will be leaving Hong Kong in 1997 and not a democratically elected leader by the people of Hong Kong who's committed to stay,'' said Martin Lee, chairman of the Democratic Party.
