Lime, goat hair, sand; green oak and river reeds - these are the materials artisans are shaping into a re-creation of the historic Globe Theatre built in 1599 along the Thames River.
This summer Shakespeare returns to a theater as like his as possible. The first full Globe Centre production, the 1590s comedy ``Two Gentlemen of Verona,'' makes its debut Aug. 21.
The 1.2-acre International Shakespeare Globe Centre complex, under construction since 1987, is set for completion in 1999 with:
-- The open-air Globe seating 1,000, plus another 500 ``groundlings'' standing in the ``well.''
