In the lively but mostly mediocre sex farce, ``Striptease,'' Demi Moore plays an out-of-work Miami mother who becomes a stripper to finance a custody battle for her young daughter.
She doesn't much like the work, and she isn't a bit interested in sex of any kind (neither is the movie), but she will do what she must do to keep her child out of the hands of her pill-popping, career-criminal husband (Robert Patrick).
All told, she's just about the most breathlessly noble character we've had in a Hollywood movie so far this year: a regular Mother Walton victimized by a global conspiracy of slobbering, leering male yahoos who, of course, she finally outwits. ...
