CHARLES REHM, SEATTLE PHYSICIAN, DIES AT 76.(News)(Obituary)

A funeral was held Wednesday for Dr. Charles D. Rehm, 76, a native of Seattle who opposed smoking in the workplace long before it became popular to do so. He died July 2.

Dr. Rehm graduated from the University of Washington and then from Northwestern University Medical School. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

He opened his private practice at the Roosevelt Clinic in Seattle in 1948. He also volunteered his medical services at the Lutheran Compass Mission in downtown Seattle and he and his wife opened their home to unmarried pregnant women in the 1950s, providing each woman with assistance and a family setting while awaiting birth.
