Lt. Col. Joseph McMillan assumes command of the 1st Special Forces Group at Fort Lewis in a ceremony today.

A career special forces officer, McMillan previously commanded a company and battalion in the 10th Special Forces Group.

He has attended the Command and General Staff College and the Army War College as well as Harvard University as a senior service fellow.
