The number of hate crimes against Asian Americans in the state dropped slightly last year, but Washington still ranked sixth in the country, a report released yesterday said.
Police departments from around the state reported 19 incidents in Washington in 1995, a 13 percent drop from the 22 racially motivated attacks against Asian Americans reported the year before.
But local Asian American leaders said anti-Asian sentiment in Washington is on the rise despite the decline in reported incidents.
