The subject of age comes up. ``Can you keep a secret?'' Ruby Dee asks.
``Cross my heart and hope to die,'' I assure her.
``Well . . . so can I!'' Pause. Think. Oh. I get it. Big laugh from both of us.
Not that her age is the most important thing about Ruby Dee. But she sure has been making public impressions - making history, even - for quite a while. Many remember Ruby Dee in the Broadway production (and then the movie version) of Lorraine Hansberry's 1959 drama ``Raisin in the Sun.''
