The Boeing Co. yesterday announced a long-anticipated changing of the guard with Phil Condit replacing Frank Shrontz as chairman effective Feb. 1.
Shrontz, who will turn 65 ((age)) on Saturday, will retire as of Jan. 31. He will continue as a member of Boeing's board of directors as chairman emeritus.
Shrontz gave up the chief executive's title in April after 10 years in the post and said then that he planned to step down as chairman shortly after he turned 65.
Condit, 55 ((age)), an engineer credited with leading the effort to design and build Boeing's new 777 jetliner, joined the world's biggest airplane manufacturer in 1965 and has been ...
