It's one thing to chronicle a life filled with scandal, intrigue, even plain old dirt. But biographer Barry Paris has the tougher task of taking an icon and revealing that underneath the gold facade there really was gold.
``Audrey Hepburn,'' his rich and definitive new biography of the actress, who died in 1993, contains few surprises. Chief among them is that she almost certainly had an affair with Albert Finney when they made ``Two for the Road'' together. At the time, her first marriage was going the way of her second - both husbands were philanderers.
A note of sadness trails through ``Audrey Hepburn,'' not because she had a sad life, but because ...
