The chief pilot of Gulf Air has rejected reports that pilot error may have caused the crash of an Airbus A320 near Bahrain on 23 August.
Captain Hameed Ali stated on 27 August that 'for the moment, it is not the pilot error' that caused the crash and contradicted earlier that the aircraft made two failed attempts to land before crashing.
Reports about the failed landing attempts were made by CNN, which stated that air traffic controllers had told the Gulf Air pilot that he was approaching 'too fast and too high, almost double the proper altitude' and had requested that he make ...
