Back in the old days -- the 1950s and '60s -- when Dick Weber was the darling of the Pro Bowler's Tour on ABC, and he was giving Chris Schenkel something to do in the otherwise Wide World of Sports, the thing that stood out as much as strikes and spares was a kind of fashion: the bowling shirt.

Loose-fitting, vaguely Hawaiian without the bold print, color-blocked in vivid primary shades, and, above all, screenprinted with sponsors' logoes and embroidered with players' nicknames, the bowling shirt came to symbolize a simpler time in America. After all, what could be more leisurely than bowling?
