All 379 National Park Service entities are in need of some form of repair or face some kind of threat, according to Thomas Kiernan, president of the National Parks Conservation Association. Ten of the most popular National Parks are endangered due to high visitation rates, lead mines, resort development, snowmobiling, and pollution.
Florida Senator Bob Graham introduced legislation to provide $500 million a year for preservation and repairs of the parks from the federal governments $4 billion a year in revenues from oil and gas leases.
