The article by Weinberg, Lottes, and Shaver ("Sociocultural Correlates of Permissive Sexual Attitudes: A Test of Reiss's Hypotheses About Sweden and the United States," The Journal of Sex Research, 37, February 2000, pp. 44-52) grossly distorts my perspective on trends in the endorsement of sexuality in the Western World. They do this in the erroneous quote they attribute to me on p. 51 of their article: "... that the Western world with Sweden as one of its leaders, is moving to a full endorsement of all forms of sexuality."
This is a radical misquote of what I wrote on p. 192 of my 1980 chapter. The actual words that I used were: "... that the Western world, ...
