Dumb and dumber. The "Big Brother" experience just spirals ever downward in the viewer ratings as well as in the public's fascination.

While "Survivor," its reality TV kin, became a national phenomenon, "Big Brother" shows no sparkle, few signs of life. You wouldn't spare a dime for this "Brother." It's a flop.

The show's problems are pervasive. The host, Julie Chen, is weak, even if in the throes of career suicide. The cast of characters is boring. The setting is depressing. The action is nonsensical. The psychology of "Big Brother" togetherness is trite and utterly lacking in drama.

There is no scheming Richard in this "Big Brother" house. ...
