Useful Alternatives for Design Engineers
Many moons ago we visited search engines and metasearch engines. We then explored Virtual Libraries in an effort to collect and centralize resources for specific disciplines. As search and directory sites are increasingly feeling the pressure to produce positive cash flows, we are seeing the arrival of such features as "pay-for-placement" and keyword-related search returns. What this means, of course, is that search results produced by several engines are increasingly based on financial versus relevance considerations. This is not so much an issue in academic and true portal sites, so this is where I go frequently to find ...
