FINKELSTEIN PUTS FORTH THE GOSPEL OF PRIVATE LABEL
The big chill over Seventh Avenue these days is the increasing probability that Federated Department Stores will be taken over by R.H. Macy & Co. and its burgeoning appetite for private label.
Only this week, it was learned, Macy's chairman Edward Finkelstein told potential investors in Macy's/Federated that he would vastly increase Federated's private label if Macy's wins the takeover battle.
