PHILADELPHIA _ Last year it was Molotov cocktails. This year it's an FBI investigation. Obviously not everyone likes Russell Peltz, the Philadelphia boxing promoter so trusted in the distrusting business of boxing that he has sometimes worked without a contract.
Peltz's office at 25th and Brown Streets was gutted by firebombs 14 months ago. There have been no arrests.
On Monday, Peltz, 53, was told by reporters about the probe, which was first reported in an Internet story by Charles Jay. Jay said the investigation centered on possible conflict of interests by Peltz in his dual role as independent promoter and boxing director for ESPN.
