Aug. 25--Wanting to make a difference is the easy part. Actually making a difference is the hard part. Growing up near a prime waterfowl hunting area in Minnesota, Don Soderlund saw the good and the bad about waterfowl hunters. Some nights, he would sit on his parents' deck and hear gunshots long after legal shooting hours had closed. That was the beginning of his quest to work in wildlife law enforcement.
On July 1, Soderlund became a conservation officer with the Game, Fish and Parks in Brown County.
"Some people do not respect the land and animals," he said. "I've always wanted to do something about it and made it my career goal.
