Aug. 25--MARTA MEMBER URGED NOT TO RESIGN: A number of state and local leaders have urged Arthur J. McClung Jr., an executive with Georgia Power Co., to remain on the MARTA board.
McClung, a Fulton County representative on the board, had been asked by the Fulton County Commission in mid-July to resign because he had supported a MARTA budget that included a possible fare increase starting Jan. 1. The commission had taken a vote opposing a fare increase in advance of the MARTA board's approval of the budget.
