Aug. 30--The number of flights arriving on time in June reached their lowest level in at least 2 1/2 years as United Airlines Inc. suffered numerous delays amid labor unrest, according to new data released Tuesday by the U.S. Department of Transportation.
The statistics confirm earlier numbers from the Federal Aviation Administration that painted a grim portrait of the state of the nation's air travel system. Hundreds of cancellations and delays this summer either disrupted consumers' vacation plans or made traveling to business meetings akin to surviving an obstacle course.
