HUBER HEIGHTS, OHIO -- Veteran injection mold builder Alpha Mold LLC is crossing over to the dark side: The company has started working in metal parts.
Alpha Mold wants to be one of the first toolbuilders in North America to devote resources specifically to Thixomolding. The process uses traditional injection presses, slightly retrofitted, to make parts in magnesium and, less frequently, in zinc.
But while the molding process has gained widespread acceptance in the Pacific Rim since 1997, it is still crawling into the U.S. market.
