If you have problems with inconsistent starting, it's time to go battery shopping. Batteries have come a long way in 10 years, mostly because the temperatures under the hood of passenger cars is rising, while the space available for storage cells is dwindling. As manufacturers make batteries more durable (to deal with the heat) and smaller, they're developing electrolytes, plate materials and cell designs that are crossing over into heavy-duty battery groups and solving diesel starting problems, too.
