The American Watercraft Association (AWA), the organization representing over one million personal watercraft (PWC) owners in the United States, characterizes the lawsuit filed by the Bluewater Network against the National Park Service (NPS) as a thinly veiled attempt by a special interest group to circumvent the public process in order to bar recreational access to the National Parks.
The suit, which asks a judge to order the NPS to "immediately close all parks to PWC activity" would, in essence, ignore the fact that the NPS studied the use of PWC and declared that their use was appropriate for 21 parks.
