Safeway has taken a tentative step toward applying for a permit to add a gas station to its Crown Hill store in Northwest Seattle, the city said yesterday.
But even that first step is upsetting some residents of the community.
The supermarket chain wouldn't comment on whether it had any plans to develop the site.
However, Kevin Donnelly, a senior inspector for the city's Design Construction and Land Use (DCLU) department, said that on Aug. 18 he conducted a pre-application site inspection for a gas station on property adjacent to Safeway's property at 15th Avenue Northwest, south of Northwest 85th Street.
