Repsol-YPF wants to increase to 100% its participation in the Chilean butane (calor) gas distribution company, Lipigas, in 2003. In Chile, according to the press, the Hispanic-Argentinean firm sent a document to its investors, confirming its intention to operate in the Chilean butane gas market. In the middle of last July, the group signed a strategic alliance with the Chilean group Yaconi-Santa Cruz, main controller of the Lipigas holding, through which it acquired 45% of this company for US$170mil.
