There are three ways of approaching the Military Revolution thesis, introduced by Michael Roberts in The Military Revolution, 1560-1660 (Belfast, 1956) and forcefully restated by Geoffrey Parker in The Military Revolution: Military Innovation and the Rise of the West, 1500-1800 (Cambridge, 1996).
